As a Member of Congress I will advocate a measured and responsible plan to bring the troops home from Iraq. I oppose the continuing course of action in Iraq and will work to ensure that all groups involved work to remove US military forces safely.

Troop Withdrawal: When considering troop withdrawal, the most important aspect is to ensure that our troops are removed safely and in a coordinated plan. Troop withdrawals should be determined by a series of deadlines and a determination of progress made in stabilizing the country.

Focus on Diplomacy: I believe that the US needs to refocus on diplomacy so that countries can work together to mobilize groups to work together without US involvement. After eight years of the Bush administration’s ‘cowboy’ diplomacy, the US needs to rebuild its partnerships to ensure the safety of US citizens at home and abroad.
