In recent months, gas prices have hit record-high numbers. While it impacts all of us at the pump, oil companies are recording enormous profits. As your neighbor living and working in the district, I know how difficult the cost of gas has been and I have a plan to lower the cost of gas and move us towards sustainable energy:

• Close the Enron loopholes that allow energy speculators to manipulate the market for personal profit, causing prices to soar.
• End the subsidizing of oil companies and invest in local businesses that develop domestic and renewable energy.
• Create a new, stronger independent Inspector General appointed by the President to increase oversight on energy futures trading, known as “speculation.”
